Built to be used by everyone.
We support people with disability, so a website that is hard to use would be a strange thing for us to ship. Here is where we are up to, honestly.
What we have done
- Every page works from the keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline that we have deliberately not removed.
- A skip link to the main content is the first thing you reach on every page.
- Body text meets AA contrast throughout, and we check every colour pairing rather than assuming.
- Headings run in order, so a screen reader can move through a page by structure.
- Photos carry alt text describing what is happening, not what it symbolises. Decorative shapes are hidden from screen readers.
- If you have reduced motion turned on, the scrolling strip and the drifting hand motif stop.
- Nothing important is carried by colour alone.
What is not there yet
- We have not published an Easy Read version of the site yet. It is on the list.
- We have not run a formal WCAG audit with people who use assistive technology daily. We would rather say that than claim a rating we have not earned.
We have not installed one of those accessibility overlay widgets. People who actually use screen readers tend to find them worse, not better, and we would rather fix the site than bolt something on top of it.
